It's Okay to Want More
Dear Circle (strangers and friends),
Thank you for reminding me of my love for ambition, and reminding me that it’s okay to want more. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of being around people who inspire me.
Ambition is contagious. It’s always been an important character trait for me to nourish personally and one to surround myself. I’ve always aimed for betterment and wanted more in life.
Just from meeting people with inspirational accomplishments, be it: writing a book, starting a business, volunteering overseas, etc., I’ve been motivated to want more and it has nothing to do with competition or greener grass, it simply reminds me that it’s okay – scratch that – it’s good to want more. It reminds me of the sense of accomplishment I feel when I achieve my goals or of the dreams I had that I grew tired of chasing. We all grow tired and get distracted sometimes but having the right circle can easily get you back on track.
A successful circle reminds me to keep moving forward. And when it get’s tough, as a yogi of mine says, “hang in there, you’re already doing it.”
Sometimes without even knowing much about a person, I’m can be inspired by their aura, by simply knowing their accomplishments and feeding of their passion for impact. Sometimes they bring out more in me and don’t even know my name.
Wanting more isn’t bad
Wanting more does not mean that I’m not appreciative of what I already have. I can want more while still being truly grateful for what I’ve achieved.
Wanting more is a part of growth – it’s necessary to personal growth. If we’re not growing, we’re not evolving, we’re staying static, we’re dying.
Like Sheryl Sandberg said in Lean In, “ambition is not a dirty word.”
